KidSMART Workshop Brisbane

NOTE: This event is only for Australian Defence Force members and their families.

ADF children aged between 6 and 11 years in the Brisbane area are invited to attend our KidSMART workshop during the Easter school holidays.
KidSMART is a resilience-based program focusing on issues that arise from the military lifestyle. Children will learn about how to deal with change, as well as being taught strategies on how to manage emotions.
Why not come along a little earlier? Gallipoli Barracks Community Centre are hosting a demonstration by Geckoes Wildlife at the Monash Centre from 11:00am. Everyone can check out the wildlife and grab a bite to eat from the canteen before dropping the kids off to KidSMART by 1:00pm (note—parents are not required to stay for the KidSMART workshop).
Be sure to register by 3 April 2020.
When registering, ensure your email address is accurate as you will receive a booking confirmation and further information via email.
You will be asked to show your ticket so please bring either a printout or electronic copy.
If you are unable to attend, please cancel your ticket/s.
If the event is booked out there is a waitlist available. In this situation, an option to join the waitlist will show automatically on the registration page of fully booked events. If you’d like to register on the waitlist, complete the ‘Contact Information’ form for every person who requires a ticket. For example, if three family members require a ticket you should complete the ‘Contact Information’ form three times, once each for those three people.

In line with the advice of the Chief Medical Officer and the Australian Government, Defence is currently reconsidering upcoming events to protect the people involved. The latest advice is that outdoor events with less than 500 people and indoor events with less than 100 people may still go ahead, provided that social distancing and hygiene principles are followed.
This includes:

  • covering your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue

  • disposing of tissues properly

  • washing your hands often with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand sanitiser where not available

  • not touching your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

  • avoiding physical contact with others.

Do not attend if you are sick, or if you have been overseas or been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the past two weeks. People who are in a higher risk category such as those with a chronic illness and the elderly should seek advice from their healthcare provider on how best to manage their health risks during this time.
It is important that you check current public health advice on the Department of Health website. ADF families can call the Defence Family Helpline on 1800 624 608 at any time for information and advice.
